About The Motivational Edge
The seeds of The Motivational Edge, Inc. (ME) first sprouted when Ian Welsch saw the need for a more constructive, engaging learning environment in after school programs. He worked to fill this void, but didn’t find his true calling until years later, as an educator for the Miami-Dade County Public school system, when he recognized a need for an alternative educational provider. ME was born in 2008, Founded by Mr. Ian Welsch, whom saw the future of this community and its children slipping away through the crevices of a deteriorating educational system and systematic recoil of the arts in the classroom.
The Motivational Edge uses culturally relevant arts as a motivational platform to inspire youth toward academic achievement, increased self-confidence and the building of essential life skills. ME provides youth with a creative outlet for self-expression, while at the same time integrating therapeutic components into its arts programs. Success in school is a vital part of ME’s Mission, therefore, free tutoring is available for all youth, and is required for students that want to participate in music and arts classes but are receiving a “C” or below in one or more core subjects in school. Using the arts as a motivational and learning platform, we impel students who are underachieving toward desperately needed academic instruction. The youth currently served by The Motivational Edge are walking testaments that the arts are an extremely powerful learning and healing tool!
The Motivational Edge prides itself on lean business operations and the ability to allocate every single donated-dollar to the point of service, not administrative costs. ME utilizes a CRM system known as – Salesforce. Salesforce combines our organizational processes, people, and technology with customized reports and dashboards to achieve our goals and provide scalability on our programs. We incorporate rigorous qualitative and quantitative tracking and reporting procedures that ensures transparency and fidelity; throughout all facets of the organization. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative data, we are able to improve our programming and methods of evaluation, streamlining and automating processes and decreasing the administrative burden, ultimately directing more funding to the point of service.
